Department of Botany

            The Department of Botany was established in 2008-09 under the faculty of Science and started working on full grant basis since its inception. The first full-time faculty and Head of the Department was appointed in 2016 and since then, it is Headed by Dr. S. P. Kalbende. Later, in 2019, Dr. V. R. Narkhedkar and Dr. G. C. Shende joined the Department as full-time faculty members. The Department offers Bachelor of Science programs in Botany since the session 2008-09. The Department has its own working laboratory for the Bachelors program in Botany with capacity of approx. 40 students per batch.
            The Department has all the required facilties including chemicals, glassware, instruments along with the computers and projector. The Department mainly focuses on the academic, scientific and rational personality development along with providing the necessary opportunities and plateform for the skill enhancement and entrepreneurial development of the students. The faculties of the Department have contribution in the research area like Aerobiology, Plant Pathology, Andogenic Haploid Productions, Reproductive Biology of Angiospems, Mycology, Phytochemistry, etc. The Department have active MoU with other academic institutions for the knowledge and expertise exchange and also, involved in the extension and outrich activities.
